WELCOME TO PICKERING BASEBALL ASSOCIATION’S HOUSELEAGUE DIVISION 2009In 2009 all House League Divisions saw an increase in membership. Tball fielded 10 teams, rookie and tyke with 6, peewee 6, Bantam and Midget 5; membership increased by more than 10 percent.. We are certain 2010 will be bigger and better. Select Teams played in two divisions, Peewee and Midget, we hope to make it five this year our teams worked hard and really enjoyed themselves. Select ball is played on the weekend, players are required to attend tryouts, but once accepted on the team, they play houseleague during the week and select on the weekend (generally Sunday evening or afternoon). Interested? Bantam contact rpsmart@sympatico.ca Rookie contact: dmtwhiteford@alcoa.com; tyke contact: kyle.sassman@webcomlink.com; peewee contact: Andy White, andy.white@rogers.com,. Midget contact, spigs@rogers.com. Positive feed back from players, parents, and coaches who participated in 2009 is our very best publicizor so please let everyone know what a great time you had last year, the more members we have the more teams and what could be better than more teams??? In 2010 we will participate in Intact House League Tournament, one division will be held in Pickering (mid Aug); the 1st place team at June 30, in each division (rookie and up) will be invited to participate. All of our teams did a great job in this SOBA (www.soba.ca) sponsored tournament; what a great experience for our House League Division. We NEED ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEERS... without help we will not be able to carry out all the programming and changes our members have indicated they would like for 2010.... if you have some time, please email us, if everyone does a little we can all benefit. Our coaches would like more practise time this year during the week... we plan to implement that, tball will continue to practise for 30 minutes each outing before they play, learning to play is key to encouraging our players to keep on having fun. Please contact vphouseleague@pickeringbaseball.ca if you can volunteer to help out and/or coach, we REALLY NEED YOUR HELP. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our FANTASTIC house league coaches... you OUTDID yourselves in 2009. the feedback from greatful parents and players was awesome. We hope you will be coaching again this year, and encourage you to book a diamond for a team practise, contact president@pickeringbaseball.ca, borrow some equipment from the clubhouse at Brockridge and let your guys try hitting the machine or throwing into a net; coaches are welcome to book the batting cages (behind the clubhouse at Brockridge) anytime, please contact president@pickeringbaseball.ca finally if you would like some help at a practise and/or game please let us know... if you can't made a game and need a replacement let us know... we will do our best to send in back up.... training is key, we hope to have an on field session for our coaches, as requested in 2010. We will have individual division specific coaching clinics this year in May at Dunbarton rookie May 12, 8.15, Blastball, May 11, 6.15 Dunbarton, Tball, May 4, Dunbarton, 6.15, Peewee/Bantam, May 5, 8.15, Dunbarton. Convenors will be in attendance for general questions, general information will be passed out at Brockridge Park May 15th, these sessions will be training only. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE FOR 2010: Player requests will be limited to four per team; we will do our best to ensure that all requests are met, but have to limit requests to 4 players per team, to be fair. Also, if you request your child play with another child we must receive an email from both parents to okay such a request. Bantam Division ONLY is allowed 6 player requests for coach per team, this includes sons/daughters of coaches; if 2 coaches have 3 players on the team, then that team is only allowed 3 requests to play with that coaching staff. Midget teams are set up as agreed among the convenor, coaches and players.
When the teams are made up if your request has not been accommodated, please contact your Division Convenor or myself vphouseleague@pickeringbaseball.ca and we will do our best to make sure teams are adjusted. Any player requesting a specific coach should contact vphouseleague@pickeringbaseball.ca
For more information on each Division please view the Division page.
Thanks to all members for their support throughout the 2008 season, I look forward to being a part of an even stronger 2009 House League Season.
